The Peachland Art Group

2012 Art Show and Sale - May 27th

Getting ready for the 2012 Art & Show Sale

The Peachland Art Group is busy creating paintings for their annual Art Show and Sale, held at the Peachland Community Centre from 10:00 am to 4:00 p.m. Sunday May 27th this year. Along with their 20 Absolutely Abstract workshop paintings (one of a few highlights at this year's Show and Sale) the members will exhibit close to 300 pieces, all individual in their subject, size, style, and character.

As well, the Show will focus on inviting all attending to participate in a Paint-By-Number activity titled "You Can Paint Too!"...thus this year's theme! Sound interesting? Come and participate; perhaps you'll be taking the finished painting home with you!

May 2011 brought approximately 700 curious art enthusiasts to attend this event, many leaving the building with new and phenomenal works of art for their homes and/or businesses. With both our Peachland Art Group recognition and our Membership numbers growing, we hope to  continue our annual trend of topping the attendance yet again.

The Art Group, consisting of some 67 very talented members, participates in numerous community activities including the HeArts Festival, the Little School House Summer Sessions, and those beautiful Beach Avenue Banners that we all enjoy each summer.

Follow us over the next few weeks leading up to May 27th as we display more photos for your exploration on this website!

St. Albert Singers Guild Coming to the Westside

May 26 is going to be a busy day for the St. Albert Singers Guild. In the afternoon the 50 voice choir will be rehearsing with the Peachland Variety Singers. Later they will be performing at the Mission Hill Winery and then returning to Peachland for a 7 pm concert in the Fifty Plus Activity Centre.

Last year the St. Albert choir celebrated 25 years of singing. The Guild is made up of two groups, the mixed choir and the women's ensemble. Both choirs tackle a broad range of music with two concerts a year. Under the direction of Criselda Mierau, they record CDs, make community appearances and enjoy touring.

The concert is entitled WHY WE SING with an eclectic mix of inspiring music from Broadway to pop to African pieces. The Peachland Variety Singers will perform several numbers, including Beautiful British Columbia which was written in the Okanagan.

The two choirs will combine to sing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.

A number of years ago Peachland Variety Singer, Helen Heyward left for Alberta and joined the St. Albert Choir. It was she who suggested her group come and share their music in the Okanagan.

As seating is limited, it is recommended to come early to avoid disappointment. The doors of the Fifty Plus Activity Centre open at 6:30 for the performance promptly at 7 pm. Admission is by donation. Proceeds will go toward improving  the sound system at the centre.
