Dear Friends of BC Arts,
I’m writing to share an exciting announcement with you.
Today, Adrian Dix announced that
a BC NDP Government will
increase investments in the BC
Arts Council by $5 million, taking
its funding to the highest level
of support ever at $29 million
by 2015/16.
This new funding commitment is
in addition to last week’s
NDP commitment to BC’s Film industry, which you can read about here.
Telling BC’s stories through art helps us get to know one another,
helps build community, provides
incredible economic
opportunities in tourism and
other fields and helps inspire
us as a province.
Thank you for all of your
support for a provincial
government that embraces the
incredible opportunities in the
creative economy.
I look forward to continuing
dialogue, and working with you
in the years ahead.
Spencer Chandra Herbert
BC NDP Arts Critic
Candidate, Vancouver West End

Dan Albas, our local
MP, presented with a painting by PCAC member, Wayne Power
At a recent community meeting with our local MP
Dan Albas which covered the Primary School, the Arts, among other
topics, Wayne Power presented Mr. Albas with a watercolour painting
he'd done of the 1908 school.
Wayne's comments and Dan Albas's remarks are
presented below from the MP's blog.
Please read below the impression our
parliamentary representative has of Peachland and its volunteers as a
result of this meeting. The original can be viewed at the following
